HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Release 1) Group Bookings Only

Description

This course is designed to give participants the skills to perform CPR in accordance with the guidelines and principles recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other peak bodies.

Length of Course

Blended method - Approximately 2 hours of pre-course eLearning and 1 hour face-to-face practical content and assessment.

Accreditation

This is a nationally recognised course HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This course satisfies the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Qualification is taken from the HLT Health Training Package.

What will you learn?

The specific topics covered by the course include:

• Chain of survival
• Assessing the situation
• DRSABCD
• Performing CPR
• Demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Care of the collapsed, unconscious person
• Special techniques for children and infants
• CPR in special circumstances
• Infection control
• Reporting procedures

Assessment

Participants will be assessed through the demonstration of:

• practical skills
• participation in role plays
• analysis of case studies
• written quiz

On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment: Perform CPR HLTAID009

Physical Requirement:

• You will be required to perform 2 minutes of CPR on a manikin placed on the floor

Previous Studies Recognition

This course format is designed for students who have already completed any of the following units and who are looking to renew/update their CPR currency.
